Analysis of Siphonic Roof Drainage Systems with EPANET

چکیده
Analysis and design of siphonic roof drainage systems are usually performed with specific software developed by the system’s manufacturers. An experimental study was carried out to verify if a general for analysis hydraulic pressurized pipe networks can be used analyze system. A test model built tests were conducted compare prototype results simulation runs in EPANET. new EPANET data overcome limitations analysis. Considering results, less than 5% average error observed between measures real which attributed measurement error. To validate model, it compared that analyzes systems. It concluded is and, therefore, design, buildings.

Siphonic roof drainage system analysis utilising unsteady &ow theory
Over the past three years a UK EPSRC research programme has been underway at Heriot-Watt University investigating siphonic roof rainwater systems. This text aims to report the principle 8ndings of the project to date. A brief description of experimental and numerical aims is given. The priming procedure which occurs in an idealised system is documented. The test procedures employed are describe...
متن کاملRoof Drainage: Not my problem ... Maybe
Many strucrural engineers are surprised to learn that the In~rnotional Building Code (IBC, 2009) requires the roof structure to be engineered for standing water weight in the vicinity of the drains and scuppers regardless of roof slope. In addition, some low-slope roofs also require special attenlion for water weight and stiffness for safety against ponding failures or protection against accele...
متن کاملInfluence of initial spatial layout on seismic behavior of masonry buildings with curved roof systems
Early design decisions made on building configuration and spatial design affect seismic behavior of buildings. Therefore introducing design guidelines and empirical methods implemented to assess seismic behavior of buildings have been proposed as an appropriate approach. Such concept helps architects to take into the consideration that how their preliminary design decisions influence downstream...
متن کاملA generic hydrological model for a green roof drainage layer.
A rainfall simulator of length 5 m and width 1 m was used to supply constant intensity and largely spatially uniform water inflow events to 100 different configurations of commercially available green roof drainage layer and protection mat. The runoff from each inflow event was collected and sampled at one-second intervals. Time-series runoff responses were subsequently produced for each of the...
متن کاملPressure-dependent Epanet Extension
In water distribution systems (WDSs), the available flow at a demand node is dependent on the pressure at that node. When a network is lacking in pressure, not all consumer demands will be met in full. In this context, the assumption that all demands are fully satisfied regardless of the pressure in the system becomes unreasonable and represents the main limitation of the conventional demand dr...
